Get a jump on the 2024 fall busy season!
July 2024 and we are in the dead heat of summer! Most Canada Geese have been “settled” and chosen ideal locations to wait out molt. There are some stragglers, and a very few young bird that remain able to fly. The majority of the population is currently grounded. Molt is typically from June through to early August. This is a 4 to 6-week process where birds are flightless when they shed and re-grown their outer wing feathers. Until the new feathers come in, they are vulnerable and stick nearby water for safety.
While it is a welcome break from the usual activity of large flocks, you may see MORE geese than usual. If your property has an ample food source (nicely maintained lawn) and walk up access from water, you may have more birds frequenting your property than usual. Marinas with docks tend to be a prime location for flightless geese because they are still able to hop up on the dock for swimming breaks.
Other properties further from water are enjoying a few weeks of reprieve from the noise and mess.
If you have consistently had Canada Geese at your property and are tired of dealing with them, THIS is the time to call! We provide free evaluations/demonstrations/quotes. We offer flexible contracts both seasonal and yearly. Get yourself prepared with our services before the busy season takes off! Before you know it, kids will be back in school, temperatures will be dropping and we will see a return of the high numbers and large flocks of Canada Geese.
