Molt Season

Molt season is finally coming to an end! You may have  been thinking your goose problem was gone for good. For the last month and a half (give or take) Canada Geese have been molting their primary flight feathers and have been grounded where they were.

What does this mean for anyone who’s experienced a Canada goose problem? It means the large flocks are soon to return to properties with attractive feeding spots and clear visibility.

I’ve seen bolder geese take up residence at locations with lots of tree and shrub cover. But typically your parks, golf courses, and large commercial properties with man made ponds are the ones that get inundated with geese.

Flocks are typically made up of resident and migratory birds. With the young 2022 goslings starting to fly and the adults regaining their ability to fly, many property owners can expect to see large flocks returning from now through fall.

Milder weather in CT winters also means that more geese are able to stay and survive on surviving vegetation.

Get a jump on the big flocks and get a free property evaluation done by us! You’ll get to meet Beau and I and discuss our strategies and resolutions to the upcoming fall rush of Canada geese.
